Worldwide vintage autos is pleased to present this 1949 ford custom. History for the�1949�model year, the custom nameplate was used for the top trim level in ford's range automobile.�it was part of the completely new redesign of ford cars after the war. In�1950, it had a 114-inch wheelbase and 196. 8-inch overall length.�for 1950 the name was changed to custom deluxe��and then to�customlinefor 1952 when it moved to the midrange position between the new�mainline�and�crestline�models. This sets the car overall 2-3" lower than stock. -stock wheels, painted red, with diamondback 3" wide white walls. About 1/2 tread life. -full fender skirts (fiberglass). -crossbar style wheel covers. -custom side trim trimmed from the rare, '51 ford crestliner convertible. -brakes are new as of 2 years ago, approx 1000 miles. -'50's style dummy spot lights added. -white rag top. -�period� blue dot tail lights. Etc�) the interior has been totally redone with period 1950�s-style "tuck and roll" in dove grey and ivory. "dummy" original-looking radio in the dash is not functional. The working am/fm radio is hidden in the glove box. It is a premier model with a cd player and includes a remote changer. Speakers are in both doors. Original stock-looking gauges displayed in dash are non-functional. Real, functional gauges are sw gauges, all of these (water temp, oil pressure, amperes) on display. Shifter is the ford 3-speed on the column with the period correct overdrive lever to the left of the steering wheel, below dash. Electric wiper motor has replaced under-performing stock, vacuum system. Mechanical -engine is the famous 239 cubic inch ford 8ba flathead, rebuilt approximately 10-12k miles by professional flathead engine man. Re-bored, 30 thousand over stock, new pistons and valve train, assembled with all-new gaskets and hardened valve seats to accommodate modern gas. Engine was completely rebalanced and runs like a well-tuned flathead v-8 should. -the electrical system has been upgraded with new wiring harness, and a 12-volt system with the stock generator converted to 12 volts. Incorporated in this upgrade was a new 12-volt coil and points system. -offenhouser aluminum heads. -stock carburetor and ignition. -reds headers. -dual exhaust with period, duel smithys glasspac mufflers.
